Irratic mouse behavior makes PC almost unusable

I was using Win10 1703(?) up until a few months ago because Win10 1809(?) would repeatedly fail to install. I had to do a clean install of 1903. When I was using 1703 I had no mouse problems. Since the upgrade to 1903 I have had a lot of problems with my mouse and it seems to be getting worse.

When I try to select text it seems to select what it thinks I want automatically and 99% of the time it's wrong. I have to make several attempts to select the exact text I want. Sometimes I give up in frustration as it automatically selects several words of even a whole paragraph. Sometimes it selects text in front of the cursor, behind the cursor or both. When it finally selects the text I want the selection disappears as soon as I release the mouse button. Sometimes it will move letters around on it's own. Other times just hovering will cause buttons to be pushed or new web pages to be launched. It's extremely frustrating. I've gone into settings and turned off everything I think could be causing the problem but nothing works. I don't want automatic text selection. How do I turn that off?

I'm using a Logitech M705 wireless mouse. I installed the latest drivers.

Try a different mouse. Does the behavior then change?

I don't think I have another mouse to try so would have to buy one. It seems to be of a Windows 10 1903 problem as it worked fine when I was using Windows 10 1703. But I'll see if I can find a mouse or buy one and try it to see if the behavior changes.

hi I think I would update to 1909 and see if that takes care of issue if a different mouse does same thing.
