Check your driver & firmware are the latest versions - use the HP website not Windows update.

While you are on the HP site, search for your model by name in their user forums to see if there are useful reports from other users.

So go to the HP website and get the latest versions for Windows 10 and check for updated firmware.

Where they show a choice of driver or 'full featured software & driver' go for the full featured.

    I'm glad.

I also had a look myself and there is no firmware update to worry about so you've finished.

Avoid firmware updates in printers. First they are like upgrading the BIOS in your PC. If it is interrupted, the printer is dead! And second they frequently prevent using compatible inks and force you buy much more expensive HP (or whatever) original inks! Beware!

I have had several HP printer firmware updates. I have never had a problem with them.

So the previous post is correct. HP printer firmware updates are similar to bios updates for the computer. Updating bioses also used to be viewed with great anxiety. I have never had a problem with any Dell bios update; I have no experience of those from other computer makers.

And don't walk under any ladders. Don't set sail on a Friday. Don't whistle on a boat.

I have seen many cases where printer refuses to print or doesn't recognize the ink (for compatible inks only) after a firmware update. I would not like to be forced to use original inks only that are double or more the price of compatibles, so I recommend to avoid firmware update unless it improves compatibility or adds some important feature.
