    Way to permanently switch meaning of FN-keys with Non-FN function?


    I need quite occasionally press keys on the top row of my keyboard like F2, F5, Print,....

    To get them I always have to press additionally (just before) the <Fn> key.

    I want to avoid this.

    Is there a way to switch (forever) the meaning of Fn with Non-Fn keys?

    Only for the top row of the keyboard.

    No, it's a hardware thing, have to work with differing Operating Systems. I have worked on a few Notebooks that actually have the traditional markings reversed but can't give a specific make and model, memory bank loses its indexing at times. Some Operating Systems can take over their functions but I wouldn't count on that.

    Peter,

    These settings are always controlled by utilities installed by the computer/keyboard maker. You can only change the setting permanently if they have provided a means of doing so.

I have an HP 15ayoo9dx lap top. The Function keys (or action keys as they call them) can be enabled or disabled by going in the BIOS. I’m trying to decide if I want to disable or enable. What is the difference? Thank you.
