    @evie, did you check out my post on how to fix your problem (as I perceive it) so that you can disable the touchpad?

    I was in the same situation as you @evie & no matter what I tried I could not disable my touchpad but the suggestion I posted was the only one which did work. :)

    Is it a bad idea to uninstall the click pad as shown in post #19 @dalchina

    I went to the link you posted the first time and I would have to unzip the download. I don't have winzip or anyway to unzip it. Also none of the screen shots shown match anything I can see on my laptop. What if I click on "click pad disable" instead of ticking the box that says disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached?

    @evie. I didn’t need to uninstall my touchpad/touchpad driver.
    Windows 10 has its own built in unzipping feature so you shouldn’t need WinZip.

    The screencap is from my PC. Can you provide a screenshot of what you’re seeing?

    I have no way to unzip the file after I download it. I forgot to attach the screen shot I took.

    Sorry, I missed that bit you posted about windows having it's own unzipping feature while I was getting my screen shot. @Baset

    Disabling the internal pointing device when a mouse is connected is exactly what you need currently. Is this not working?
    When you updated the synaptics driver the thinkpad tab usually disappears & all that’s left is the new touchpad entry under settings>devices. It is under these circumstances that you would use the fix I posted to enable the full touchpad settings under the devices tab within the new settings.
    If you right click on the .zip file is there no unzip entry?

    I didn't download it yet. But I will. The screen shot is after I did a system restore after letting windows update. The update is now on a 7 day pause. When I restart my computer it will update the mouse driver and that screenshot won't be the same. It will only show the mouse with how to change buttons etc...and there will only be a way to change sensitivity of click pad.
    But...would clicking on clickpad disable work before I let the update continue? I'll be back soon to see what you say. Thank you for helping me.

    If you click on disable touchpad & then update you may end up stuck with a none working touchpad; if you don’t update then yes this will disable the touchpad.

    I don't mind being stuck with a disabled clickpad. I never use it.
