Can not print a pdf file

I am having this problem with both laptops, one an HP and the other a Lenovo. I can open the pdf file but when I click print nothing happens, I get no response from the HP printer which I have not had any problems with.
I would include the Windows version number but do not know where to find it.

To find the Windows version number, type "winver" (without the quotes) in the search box in the lower left corner.

What program are you using to open the Acrobat (.pdf) files? Not that it should matter-

Need a bit more clarity. Are you trying to print a PDF file, or "print to" a PDF file (print a document to a PDF format). If trying to "print to" you need to choose the "Microsoft Print to PDF" option under Windows 10 (regardless of version).

If you're trying to "print" a PDF file, I don't know what's going on as you should be able to do that. In fact I just printed a PDF file from my laptop over a networked Epson printer without issue as a test after reading this post.

Is the problem limited to one particular file? If so, check Properties for a Security section to see if printing is allowed for that document.

For Foxit pdf Reader it's in File, Properties, Security.

    Thanks for your help

I am trying to simply print a form that is now in a PDF format. Please excuse my ignorance. The suggestion to use a property of Windows 10 I am not sure how to do that. I figure there is a simple way, I just do not know

I'm unaware of a "print" security setting. Where is it located?

Let me repeat: what application are you using to view the .pdf?

Are you able to print any other .pdfs?

I use Adobe Acrobat Reader. (Adobe created the .pdf format.) Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Download | Free PDF viewer for Windows, Mac OS, Android I do not recommend allowing the McAfee stuff to be downloaded as well. (Uncheck the boxes.)

If you are on a locked-down corporate PC or laptop, you may not be permitted to install anything. In that case, seek help from your IT department. (I'd be a bit surprised that they don't provide Acrobat Reader automatically; it's very common.)

Try right-click on the PDF, open with Edge, click the printer upper right on menu bar.

Need a couple of questions answered first....

    1. Since you're saying "am having this problem with both laptops, one an HP and the other a Lenovo" can I assume the printer is networked?
    2. Is the "form that is now in a PDF format" the only document you're having issues with, only PDF files, or any document?

Also (in the vein of not assuming) did you save the file first before attempting to print?
