MS Precision mouse not working in 1909

    Hello:

I had my mouse working in Win 10 1803. Cleanly updated to v 1909, and can't get the mouse to work. MS Mouse and Keyboard Center installed. In Bluetooth & other devices: Microsoft USB Wireless Mouse (Mouse and Keyboard Center) and Microsoft Wireless Transceiver are listed. Mouse is charged and button at bottom clicked (pairing), but no cigar. Oh, and Bluetooth is on.

I just remembered that pairing was something I initially forgot last time I installed.
"All three pairing lights will blink once when the mouse goes into pairing mode" ...

This does not happen when I press the pairing button. What happens is that the lit button blinks three times, fast, three different times when I press the pairing button. But it does not help.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong or not doing or ...?

    Thanks in advance.

In your post, in addition to the transceiver, you note that your mouse has a pairing button. So if your mouse does not use a transceiver and if it is bluetooth, then try this...

First, go to the list of connected bluetooth devices in settings by pressing Windows Key + R, in the Run box that opens type "ms-settings:bluetooth", and press ENTER. Does this screen indicate that bluetooth is on? In the "Mouse, keyboard, & pen" section, does your mouse appear and does it say "Paired" or "Connected"?

If bluetooth is on and you see either indication (Paired or Connected) but the mouse is not working, let's remove it and add it again. If the mouse is not showing, just skip past the next paragraph and continue.

Click the name of the mouse on this screen. A "Remove" button should appear. Click it. Confirm that you wish to remove it.

Now, your mouse should be be showing in the list.

Still on the same screen, near the top, click on "Add bluetooth or other device", then select "Bluetooth". Once again place your mouse in pairing mode by pressing the button until it starts blinking.

At this point it SHOULD show up in the list. Select it to add it.

If that still is not working, report back the results of the above checks / actions.

I will do this in the afternoon today. One question, though:

"Now, your mouse should be be showing in the list." Which list? Or did you mean "Now, your mouse should NOT be showing in the list."?

Sorry - my mistake. You are correct. After removing it should NOT appear in the list of installed devices.

I did the above, and I held down the pairing button (for the left pairing light). The mouse showed up in the Bluetooth settings as “BTLE Precision Mouse”. I clicked on it, it said “Connecting”, immediately followed by "Try connecting again” and the mouse name disappeared.

I then tried the middle pairing light, the mouse showed up, I clicked on it, it said "Connecting" and then, "Connected" (or something like it). Phu, I am a happy man. (Oh, of course, now the third/right pairing light is lit

Thank you so very much for your help.

Glad you got that sorted out! Just a tip: Write yourself a little note on exactly what you did to successfully pair it so that if a year from now you have to do it again, you will have a written procedure for yourself. I find it's way easier than having to figure it all out again in the future

I have a database (FoxPro) for things like that, but it is not working so well yet, so I do not enter stuff. Now, I have decided to record everything in simple Word files located where the other stuff for applications are located (installation, purchase info, technical issues, etc.). But thanks for the reminder.

I have one more issue: in applications (Word, for instance) the mouse cursor moves erratically. Any tip about that?
