    Cryorig H7 in a 180mm-width case

    1)Will a Cryorig H7 (145mm height, CRYORIG H7 | Research Idea Gear) fit in a 180mm width case with Ryzen 5 3600?
2)What is the maximum cooler height for such a case?
    Thanks

Manufacturers of cases typically have specs that include the height of the CPU cooler that they can accommodate. Check the web site for the maker of the case for those specs.

It would all depend upon how much of that 180mm is available from the top of the CPU to the case lid.

My case is Asus TA-8G1, but I can't find the specs for the max CPU height.

I looked for 15 minutes and couldn't find it either.

The case is 180 mm wide; that's 7.1 inches.

That's narrower than the average ATX case, so I'd guess it could not accommodate a 160 mm tall cooler, which is pretty typical. How much shorter is anyone's guess.

My case is 188 mm wide and cannot take any cooler taller than 140 mm. You might make an inference from that---that your case being only 180 mm wide couldn't either.

I settled on a Noctua U9S, which is only 125 mm tall.

I'd try to buy a cooler from a source that had exchange privileges if the one you purchase is too tall.

    Very useful info. Thanks.
So, the 145mm Cryorig H7 will not fit?

I don't know. How could I know based on the info I've mentioned?

If I had to bet, I'd say no. Your case is narrower than most and the H7 uses a 120 mm fan and is 145 mm tall.

That's 5.7 inches............which leaves only 1.4 inches (7.1 minus 5.7) for the motherboard, standoffs, and the CPU and cooler mounting mechanisms. Probably even less considering that the claimed 180 mm is likely an outside (exterior) measurement.

That's short for its class (coolers with 120 mm fans), but it's nearly an inch taller than the Noctua U9S.

If you cannot return the H7 if it's too tall, you are in a jam.........unless you can find some sort of confirmation about the H7 fitting in your case. Maybe a youtube review of your case/PC? Find someone with personal experience with that case and the H7?

Is there an over-riding reason you need the H7?

The Noctua U9S has a 92 mm fan, but will cool within maybe 5 degrees of the H7. That isn't likely to be an issue unless you are going for a strong overclock.

You might also have to consider RAM clearance with the H7. I have no idea if it might interfere with tallish RAM modules.

Cryorig H7 looks better than Alpenfoehn Sella and Noctua U9S.
    Cryorig H7 CPU Cooler Review
    Alpenfoehn Sella CPU Cooler Review
    Noctua NH-U9S CPU Cooler Review

But it's not certain that Cryorig H7 will fit in my case. And it's not certain that the other 2 coolers are adequate for a Ryzen 5 3600.

You have to decide if the 3 to 4 degree difference among the H7, the Sella, and the U9S is significant and worth the risk of being too tall or interfering with RAM clearance.

I have NO idea of about the cooling requirements of your CPU, but 3 or 4 degrees isn't worth mentioning unless:

1: you are going for a high overclock

    or

2: you think that lower temps trumps all other considerations, in which case you need to look at liquid cooling or a different case that will accommodate other air coolers or lower ambient temps, etc, etc. The possibilities are endless if you are willing to spend to get them.

I want air cooling (no risk for leaking).
I might buy a bigger case.
Anyway, I will have to think about it. Thanks

Just tried my hand at it visiting a bunch of sites including sites in China. Everyone has all sorts of specs - except the height of the CPU cooler that it can accommodate.
