Disable auto-start of Intel Driver & Support Assistant? Portability?

Autoruns (free from MS- just search) is the best bet here and not mentioned in that tutorial. It lists startups in sections and under a tab per section.

You can search the list too. To disable an item, simply click the checkbox to its left.

(Note that in general, besides all the ways listed in items mentioned above, some programs are launched automatically via the task scheduler).

But no info as to what it is or how to use it... and I added more.

I started with Task Manager and now i use Autoruns & Task Manager on parallel basis. Task Manager is specially good for the Startup Impacts in a single instance . Though Task Manager has very limited entries, it always came potentially good to save me on performance & speed.
Autoruns is matchless but I feel that it offers too much of information to start with. If one really wants to start with Autoruns, there are some very good articles

Using Autoruns :
1. In my opinion, only disable entries in Logon tab & do nothing with services, drivers.
2. Select the entry, Right click & Search Online!

Using autoruns can be a little frightening for those using it for the first time. the link included in this post is direct to the page in Sysinternals and the instructions on its use by it's developer Mark Russinovich. Always go directly to the source if possible

Basically the safety belt for its use is to use the dropdowns to hide Microsoft entries, which protects your system from accidents.

The other thing is to always use the facility to disable by unchecking and then leave the changes for a while to ensure they are working the way you want, you can then go back and actually delete the entries when you are certain that you will never want to go back I say entries as there are often more than one entry for a third party add in all of which need to be disabled. It's quite normal for the larger companies and some well meaning smaller companies to add entries into the task scheduler to check on boot that their software, (Drivers or Update checkers), are still there and have not "accidentally been removed by the user" It can be useful with some critical processes, but IMO a little Over zealous for an update checker

Some pros I know will keep a record, often in a physical notebook or another master PC, so it's available if the computer ever needs reinstalling, (backups are easier as long as they are up to date), this contains a list of all the changes from standard of system files and standard settings. Certainly something to consider if you customise a lot
