    Touchpad/Wireless mouse enable/disable settings Win 10 Home

My gaming laptop I have set to disable the touchpad when my old wired mouse is connected, since my wrist rests on the touchpad as I'm playing. When I'm done playing I unplug the mouse and the touchpad automatically works again. This is just a general setting in Windows 10.

Now though I have a wireless mouse. When I connect the dongle to the USB port, the touchpad is always disabled. I would rather it only be disabled once I turn the mouse itself on (which coincides for when I want to actually use the mouse, be that in a game or otherwise). Once I turn the mouse off, I need the touchpad to work, but don't want to have to manually unplug the mouse dongle every time I need to use the touchpad again.

Is there a way to configure this behavior in the Windows settings? Thanks.

First, I believe that so long as the dongle is connected it will think that the mouse is effectively connected so you may not be able to work around from that angle.

However, depending upon what kind of touchpad you have, there may be a workaround. As an example, with a Synaptics touchpad, the drivers have an option that can be set to disable the touchpad by performing a quick double-click on the upper left corner of the touchpad. To re-enable, simply double-click that same spot again. If you have a non-precision touchpad that uses 3rd party drivers, it might be worth going through the configuration to see if this is an option for you.
