If you ever get a computer with an m.2 slot, expect the drive that is plugged into it to go to the end of the list.... and there won't be anything you can do about that!
Not necessarily true... and I didn't do anything to change the order

Disk O & 1 are NVMe drives installed in an m.2 slot

Paragon Hard Disk Manager show drive order and drive names....

It "might" actually have something to do with whether the drive is PCIe or SATA. Not sure though. I just know the above statement isn't necessarily true... m.2 drives go to the end.

Changing drive letter has no effect on the physical ports the drives are on. You can change the drives letters all you want and it won't do squat for the disk order number.

As for drive order number it doesn't affect anything other than telling you what drive is assigned to what numbered port. And yeah, I can understand it being a "nuisance" not being in the "right" order, but for me, not enough to redo them. That's me.
I know that when did i say changing drive letter will change disk numbers.
