Help with Hard drive on windows 10

Hi all wondering if anyone can help.... I have a laptop running windows 10 Home 64 bit, (updated regularly) it has a ssd as main hard drive and a 1tb western digital back up drive (D) the backup drive has nothing on it at all yet continues to spin up and make a noise.... I have changed the drive and it still continues to spin up randomly and click...anyone know how I can stop this issue this only started recently.
    Thanks

The "click" in an HDD [spinner] usually signifies a hardware issue which ends up having to be replaced. Is the HDD internal or an External USB or eSATA drive?

The HDD is a new sata internal one, the old one was replaced with the new one but the new one is doing exactly as the old one did i.e intermittently running as if its been accessed but there is nothing at all on the new drive

Check all cables replace if you can. Make sure they are seated firmly and no bent connections or dust in
them and the HDD connectors are clean.
Open Bios and check if the drive is there and is the right capacity and that your motherboard supports it.

Fill out the Computer section of your profile as this will help others to help you.
