Windows 10: Mouse settings constantly resetting.

    Mouse settings constantly resetting.

Hey, folks. Just upgraded to 10. Not blown away so far, but it's a lot less stupid than 8. Glad they gave it away for free, seems like the fair thing to do considering they actually charged people money for 8.

Anyway, I'm here because my mouse settings keep reverting back to factory every time I restart the laptop. I can't stand finger gestures and tap to click, but they keep coming back like a bad case of herpes. Unlike my herpes, I'm still hoping I can cure this problem.

    Any help? thanks!

have you checked that you dont actually have any pending restarts / updates on your "check updates" part?

I also have this problem. Very annoying. I demand my money back if I actually had to pay for this crap.

I bought a new computer recently and I made sure that it did not have W10 because of all the problems Ive been having. Ive been thinking about reverting the other computer back to windows 7.

That solved it! Gee... THAT was simple and intuitive!

That has to be the worst fix I've ever had to do. Microsoft really screwed up with that one. Thanks for linking me to the solution! I'll go ahead and repost it here for anyone interested:

I think I found a fix! After mucking around in the registry, trying all sorts of stuff, moving keys around, with some PARTIAL success but not totally satisfactory... something caught my eye...
    Open up regedit.exe
    Navigate to:
Note this is LOCAL MACHINE, not CURRENT USER.
Look for a key in that Install folder called DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade
Double click and change the value to 0
Now go back to the Synaptics control panel, set everything how you like, and reboot. See if it holds. It is holding on mine, still have to test on another computer.
So, this is a sign something weirder is going on behind the scenes, if the driver thinks it is "upgrading" after every reboot.... but anyway, if it works for now, good enough for me!
