I gave you the link to click on. There is only 1 file in the mb_driver_chipset_300ser_infupdate_10.1.17969.8134.zip file at that link.

When you unzip it, your get this: mb_driver_chipset_300ser_infupdate_10.1.17969.8134.exe

    Double click
on it or right click and select Open to start the install.

    Thanks for pointing that out.

I run the .exe file, (after backing up my stuff), but there's no change.

    Well...
Turned on my PC this morning and what do you think I found?

I now have 4 failed USB devices instead of the 3 that were present the other day.

    It is multiplying after all!

Still haven't been able to solve this issue.

If this keeps going like this.
My device manager is going to be chock full of these unknown, failed, nonexistent USB devices.
    What can I do?

This is one of the devices.
I'm not quite sure what to do with the information contained here.

Did you update the motherboard's chipset drivers? Doing so my fix the issue. Go to Gigabyte's website and find the chipset drivers for your board.

Be aware chipset drivers are responsible for controlling communication between various components in your system like USB devices, and also include the USB drivers.

    Update...

    The motherboard died on me.
A new replacement mobo has been ordered.
My guess is, that the plugging in of phantom USB devices, (even though no devices were being plugged in) was a warning sign.
Good thing I held on, to my 10+ year old Dell Optiplex 745 Mini Tower.
This machine has proven itself to be a true workhorse. It has never failed to boot and it's also running the latest version of Win 10.

So I'm going to mark this thread as "Solved".

Thank You, to those who offered their help/suggestions with this issue.
