I think you'll find that's because the more RAM you have, the longer the POST test will take to check it before booting the OS.

Agreed, the OS has to read the BIOS so as to know what resources are available to it. I usually keep the P.O.S.T. hidden rather than watch the scrolling through every thing.

    Hi folks

why on earth is booting length time even a consideration (this whole topic over boot times is really "Yawn-o-nomics" !!! -- especially if it's not done "every five minutes").

-- Get real --if you re-boot so often that boot time is a problem then there's something wrong with your mindset -- go and have a coffee or something while system re-boots.

Some servers -- hardware boxes actually designed as servers take quite a while to do all their internal stuff before even getting into the OS BIOS boot -- I have a couple of HP servers which can take easily 30 secs to re-start (doing all their internal checking etc etc) before I even see anything like a BIOS prompt if I want to select different boot options .

A lot of people keep computers on for most of the day -- I don't know many people who continually re-start their machines during the day -- so even if say you do 2 re-boots over a 24 hr period does a say 1 min re-boot sequence really make any difference if the OS once booted runs along efficiently.

    Cheers

......you actually took my advice and it kinda worked?! That's a first for me.
But like Jimbo said, you prolly don't need all that ram, 32 would be more than enough.
Unless you're some serious gamer who has games that are a terabyte in size.
I think 64GB ram is the norm for AI development.

Hi guys, ok now the reboot problem disappeared when I did a fresh install on Windows 10 , I rarely reboot and only when there are updates or installation or uninstallation that requires a reboot, but now the system reboots immediately . I was going to leave it on 32GB of Ram but instead of throwing them in the drawer atleast I am using them but if I go through a problem now I will leave it on 32GB but for now its working good. I use this as a gaming PC mostly and VR Gaming (Oculus Rift S Headset ) as well.

As a gamer playing triple A title games, I still can't see more than 32gig of RAM gaining you much. Anyway I've got 32gig of RAM and my GPU has 16gig of VRAM.
