It does sound like a Bios problem , Bad upgrade?

Are you able to run video tests ?

Yup. It does seems so. Also EZ Flash 2 doesn't work so I cannot reflash right now.

PS. I am reinstalling w10 right now. Audio is still not working.

I will post back as soon as I am able to install most drivers (or not).

There will be little in the logs after a clean install.
If you have recurrent problems allow at least 3 to 4 days or more before running V2.

Although I have been able to install all drivers, the discrete vga adapter (nVidia GeForce 560M or something) is giving me an error code 31 under device manager.

Could this be the main issue?. Discrete videocard dying? I am almost at the point of giving up.

Its possible from the symptoms. That is why I asked about the video tests, they should show something.
I have laptops that would work off a external Monitor because the video card failed
    on the internal one.

Laptop just hanged when installing some updates. I do not have the proper knowledge to find out what's wrong but it seems it's hardware-related.

I don't believe Asus has any built in hardware checks like Hp or Dell.

Is it possible to switch off add-on graphics in bios? If yes, try to disable it.

Some downloads from K55VD Driver & Tools | Laptops | ASUS Global (select win7 x64)

    From Microsoft:

    Code:
Code 31 "This device is not working properly...(Code 31)"
    Full Error Message

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

    Recommended Resolution

Reinstall the device driver using the Hardware Update wizard

From Start, search for device manager and select Device Manager from the results.
Right-click the device in the list.
On the menu that appears, choose Update Driver to start the Hardware Update wizard.
Note You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver.
If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor’s website.

    Thanks.
There is no option to switch/disable discrete graphics in BIOS. Internal Intel HD Graphics 4000 is working on external monitor only.

Unfortunately I cannot install the WinFlash program. It says: "Sorry, this product is for ASUS notebooks only" and exits.
