    Print Spooler Running Constantly

Win10 v1903 with all updates. HP ENVY 6255 Printer - wireless access from 2 other PCs, wired access from this PC.
There is a long story about why this PC is connected to the printer via USB rather than wireless. Don't really want to revisit that issue. It's here No printer driver after upgrade to Win V1903 Closed 3 weeks ago.

Printer is working fine but today (10/29/19) the spooler (spoolsv.exe) decided to run all the time using 13% of the CPU (maybe other resources too but the CPU use is the biggie). I have stopped and restarted the spooler - no joy. I have rebooted the PC - no joy. I have applied the Reset and Clear Print Spooler (a tutorial on this site) - no joy.

    Suggestions what to look for?

The constantly running print spooler is a pain. I have to stop it and then restart it whenever I want to print. Grrrr.......

Almost a week and no feedback. Either this is an uninteresting problem or it's just too hard to tackle?
I'll bet someone has some advice on what to look for.

This is a long shot, but I had that issue along time ago on Win 10. Had to restart the Spooler Service to get the thrashing of 16% cpu stopped. Turned out, for me, to be what seemed a totally unconnected driver. The ASMedia Controller. If you have the device, try uninstalling it, drivers and all, rebooting to let it re-install with fresh drivers, and see if it helps. No guarantees.

It's this thing in Device Manager:

Uninstall them both. and their drivers.

I hope that image is readable.

f14tomcat, The properties for that controller, under the Driver tab, only has an option to "Uninstall Device". Does that do all the uninstalling suggested by you? (Sorry, but I'm somewhat clueless about things at this level of the system.)

If you click that, there should be a small box in the confirm screen with the option to do the driver, also. I don't have that one, it's a S.W.A.G.

f14tomcat, I finally did what you suggested and it worked! The printer still prints and the print spooler is not acting up. There was no option to uninstall the driver just the option to uninstall the device. But it worked!

    Thank you!
