Enhanced security for installation

DirectStorage for Windows 11 requires an NVMe SSD to store and run games that use the "Standard NVM Express Controller" driver (not this Samsung NVMe driver) and a DirectX12 GPU with Shader Model 6.0 support.

Interesting... I was able to download the older driver files from Samsung. For some odd reason, they allow the older driver files to be downloaded, however; the new driver is allowed only in limited numbers per day.

Thanks again Brink. I'll check for a download again tomorrow.

UPDATE: I was able to download the updated drivers for my NVMe 970evo from Softpedia without any grief.

There does appear to be some difference between running the program normally and as admin, see their website. Also note that they have renamed the last two tests for version 7.

Strange to need to create an ISO. I updated the firmware on my 970 EVO and 860 EVO directly from within Samsung Magacian.
Just press update and then reboot when it is done.

I started verifying that a Macrium backup is operational after a full backup using Macrium VIBoot, after I had a failed restore on another computer last week.
This was not NVMe related, but it was enough to make me double check to verify that the backup process would always restore.

I found that if you are using the Samsung NVMe Driver, the backup would not load as a virtual machine with VIBoot, The VM was created ok but it would never complete booting.
Windows would say it experienced a problem and start the information collection process then try to reboot again.

I uninstalled the Samsung NVMe Driver program and uninstalled the disk in Device Manager, then rebooted.
Verified that the NVMe was using the Microsoft driver and made another backup.

This backup was loaded into VIBoot and it booted up just fine without any issues. I also verified that it would run in the Hyper-V Manager. All good there as well.

I have yet to try to restore using either backup, but I plan to try this tomorrow starting with restoring a backup with Samsung drivers installed then restoring a backup with Microsoft drivers.

If you are using the Samsung drivers you may want to test this out on your own. I'm glad my other restore failure on another computer made me rethink the whole backup and restore process.
