I have a 980 Pro in a Z370 rig, so running at PCIE gen-3. I just updated the firmware from 4B2QGXA7 to 5B2QGXA7 and ran the default Samsung Performance Benchmarks. All of my scores dropped a little. I have another 980 Pro in an X570 rig so am going to try that one next. Some people are reporting significant increases in random reads and writes but I am not seeing that. Maybe it has something to do with running at PCIE gen-3 or maybe its a Windows 10 verses Windows 11 thing. I am on Windows 10 build 19044.4503 on both machines so it will be interesting to see what the drive in the X570 rig does.
I updated using the system in my profile here at TenForums. I'm using a ASUS Strix X570 Gaming E mainboard which is of course using pci-e 4. With this board initially when I first installed it in April last year the 980 PRO random reads and writes were quite slow. It improved a lot when ASUS released the current production bios back in about October 2021 (when Windows 11 was released).

Thanks for posting this. I have an Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero which is currently running beta bios v4001 which has AMD AGESA V2PI 1206. This bios is rumored to have issues so I may revert to the latest released bios which is v3904 with AGESA V2 PI 1.2.0.5. I will update the firmware in that 980 Pro, run a benchmark with bios 4001 and see how it does. If I revert to bios 3904 I will run the benchmark again. Too many variables!

I just did the update to v7.1.1.820 from within the application (not a direct download). I was running v7.0.1.630 because the last time there was an update to v7.1.0, the application would immediately crash. This happened on an Intel Z370 system and an AMD X570 system. Now this new version is immediately crashing. Here is what I see in Event Viewer.
Faulting application name: SamsungMagician.exe, version: 7.1.1.820, time stamp: 0x61607602

Thanks CountMike. I have tried to update from within the app v7.0.1.630 to the new version v7.1.1.820 three times. The new version crashes every time I try to run the program. The same thing happened last time they released an update to v7.1.0. I will try fully uninstalling v7.0.1.630, reboot, then install v7.1.1.820 from the ZIP file you kindly provided a link to. I have not been able to find the v7.1.1.820 install zip file anywhere else. I will update after I try this.

Update - Just uninstalled v7.0.1.630. installed v7.1.1.820 from the link you provided. Magician crashed right after starting it. Here is the info from Event Viewer. This is on an Intel Z370 machine. I will try it on my AMD X570 machine but suspect it will do the same thing. Guess I will go back to v7.0.1.630 on this machine.
