[DRIVERS] Samsung NVMe
hey Brink..
is it worth installing this driver over that which came with Windows 10 Pro x64?
check out my new system specs.. I upgraded my motherboard, CPU, RAM, and added a Samsung NVMe drive EVO 970..
ok installed, and rebooted no crash and no errors so far... sigh of relief..
well no issues that I can be sure of are related to the NVMe driver...
I have had two crash/lockups on Win10 so far... the screen goes blank and then goes on standby.. then I check the num-lock key and no response.. so reboot hard and its working again... I don't know whats causing it.. but probably not related to the NVMe driver but can't be sure.
well as an added thought/note... the default Microsoft NVMe driver is from 2006 and the Samsung is from this year 2020...
so... it kinda makes sense to update to it...
I downloaded Shawn's zip file, executed, and installed successfully according to the install dialogue. However, when I checked the System driver listing, NO Samsung driver; and checked device mgr properties and found no change.
Must I use Device Mgr "Update Driver" button and point it to the Samsung driver?
When I tried to install the Samsung driver again, the panel options were: 1) Repair or 2) Uninstall. This suggests that the Install Wizard found the new Samsung driver somewhere in the system. However, Win Sys32 shows nothing with Samsung appended to driver name.
Since this laptop is used only for internet, and the Crystal numbers aren't all that bad -- I'm not that concerned about M.2 NVMe performance. Unless someone has a suggestion on how to get the new driver to install and be recognized by Device Mgr.
Anyone know the driver's name and what folder it resides?
THANKS Shawn,
I opened wrong device folder, dah. Some values went up, some down. I'm not that concerned with performance on this computer; but nice to have later driver from Sam.
