Google says -and it is correct for you to query this- virtual firewire is not offered in VirtualBox. (Note, when I suggested a VM I did not know a firewire interface was involved).
    yes, thats unfortunate

You could try PCI Passthrough. Chapter 9. Advanced Topics

Worse case, image the XP drive and use that in a Dual Boot or move to a newer machine. Load up Ubuntu on a Live USB and try.
so PCI Passthrough works only on on Linux hosts with a kernel version later than 2.6.31.. yes, i could also try that.

I hope that something will work.

    thank you all

Check to see if the Firewire will work with Thunderbolt/USB C. If the school will not budget to replace, what would the cost be to replace and all of those willing to do so, help to raise the funds.

the problem is that we have no money to buy new software for the camera...

Olympus is asking approximately $2000 for the new software that will make possible work in windows 10.

because of that i am looking how to make camera work in dual boot, or somethig similar.

I can definitely say for sure FireWire cards DO work under Windows 10 as shown in my post here - FireWire Card (IEEE 1394).

That said, I would get one with a VIA chip as shown in the link's image. And that particular card was plug & play (no drivers to install). You can get the card from Amazon - SHINESTAR Firewire Card for $18 bucks

no, screenshots are taken from win xp sp3. this is the old computer where currently the camera is connected, and it is working.

tomorrow when i get to school i will save the complete driver from CD in the zip, and put it here.

yes, this is the card: DIGITUS: DIGITUS - Produkte

it says: Plug & play, and Supports Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista and XP.

so i believe that the problem is not in the firewire card, the problem is in camera.

    thank you

i understand this but no one answers, will the firewire interface work then?
No additional drivers needed? Not the card, then.

I wonder if you could simply install the TWAIN drivers and use some other software to access the camera.

I use an old version of Photoshop (CS6) to import images from a TWAIN scanner. I believe that even the Paint program that comes with Win10 can do that.

It may not give you the same functionality as the Olympus software, but it could at least confirm the basic function of the camera.

Hmmm.... I wasn't aware Windows 10 supported TWAIN drivers only WIA - TWAIN Compatibility

I know I could never get the TWAIN to work with my Scanner under Windows 7, which it did under XP. In XP I remember I could scan directly from Photoshop via TWAIN with my Nikon scanner. Under Windows 7 that was no longer the case. Same with Windows 10, I can not scan directly from Photoshop (CC) through the Nikon scanner.

BTW I'm aware you can download TWAIN drivers for Windows 10, but I've not tried that, or even have a need for them as I no longer use my Nikon scanner.

program works, the only problem is in driver of the camera.

You have TWAIN driver for windows 10 ?

I don't link to "suspicious" websites. And which site are you referring to???

And for the record, I also wasn't suggesting any downloads. Only pointing out that I'm aware you can download TWAIN drivers for Windows 10.

    Thank you.

I have to admit to an error. I'm using TWAIN with a scanner, but only with a Photoshop CS6 plugin. AS far as I know, I have no TWAIN drivers installed. They only function under the X86 (32 bit) version.

I'd like to look at the Olympus software package, but it's not a freely available download.

Stupid question of the day: have you tried Windows 10 compatibility mode? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...ams-compatible
