Check to see if the Firewire will work with Thunderbolt/USB C. If the school will not budget to replace, what would the cost be to replace and all of those willing to do so, help to raise the funds.
I can definitely say for sure FireWire cards DO work under Windows 10 as shown in my post here - FireWire Card (IEEE 1394).
That said, I would get one with a VIA chip as shown in the link's image. And that particular card was plug & play (no drivers to install). You can get the card from Amazon - SHINESTAR Firewire Card for $18 bucks
No additional drivers needed? Not the card, then.
I wonder if you could simply install the TWAIN drivers and use some other software to access the camera.
I use an old version of Photoshop (CS6) to import images from a TWAIN scanner. I believe that even the Paint program that comes with Win10 can do that.
It may not give you the same functionality as the Olympus software, but it could at least confirm the basic function of the camera.
Hmmm.... I wasn't aware Windows 10 supported TWAIN drivers only WIA - TWAIN Compatibility
I know I could never get the TWAIN to work with my Scanner under Windows 7, which it did under XP. In XP I remember I could scan directly from Photoshop via TWAIN with my Nikon scanner. Under Windows 7 that was no longer the case. Same with Windows 10, I can not scan directly from Photoshop (CC) through the Nikon scanner.
BTW I'm aware you can download TWAIN drivers for Windows 10, but I've not tried that, or even have a need for them as I no longer use my Nikon scanner.

I have to admit to an error. I'm using TWAIN with a scanner, but only with a Photoshop CS6 plugin. AS far as I know, I have no TWAIN drivers installed. They only function under the X86 (32 bit) version.
I'd like to look at the Olympus software package, but it's not a freely available download.
Stupid question of the day: have you tried Windows 10 compatibility mode? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...ams-compatible
