    How do i diagnose USB issues? "Crash" playing VR


    System: X99 MSI gaming 7, 16gb ddr4, MSI Nvidia 2070super, Valve index.

    USB peripherals: 4 game controllers, keyboard, mouse.

    Recently in the middle of playing VR games, randomly (no pattern to it) keyboard/mouse become unresponsive. As does all the other peripherals. The VR Mirror still shows, and my headset is still working, but nothing works.
    It's like it is disabling all USB devices, and i have to hard reset the PC to restart.

    Is there some kind of log or scrip that shows USB activity that I can record and view to see what the problem is?
    Something which shows all USB operations?

    I get that problem occasionally too, Hiohaa. I don't game, though. I'll be working on something and everything just freezes up and I also have to do a hard shutdown. Like you, I don't have a clue as to what's causing it.

    well, i decided to format, and buy a PCI E Usb 3.0 Inateck card for £27.
    I've decided it might be a usb 3.0 controller issue - my motherboard has 8 USB 3.0 ports, only 2 of them are intel x99 chipset ones. The rest are 3rd party controller ones. And they all seem to have issues.
    I now have a powered PCI E card providing usb just for the VR headset, and hopefully this will work.

    Try turning off USB suspend in power options, see if that makes a difference.
