    eSata to USB?

My laptop has an eSata socket but all of my external drive docks are USB 3.
Are there any adapters available that would let me connect the two?

eSata is faster than USB. Might want to find a Ext Drive dock that supports it. But there are such adapters available at places like NewEgg or Amazon .

Check the User Manual, some Notebooks have a combination USB/eSATA port, I have a couple that do.

Is the machine in your "My Computer" listing the one (Gigabyte P27GV2)?

Here are the port Gigabyte claims for it: "USB(3.0)*2, eSATA/USB(3.0) Combo*1, USB(2.0)*1."

I'm not certain, but I believe that you can just insert a USB Type A plug into the combo port.

True if you´re taking about USB 2.0.

Found something on Amazon. It will suffice until I can gather enough shekels for a new docking station.

    Hi there
These things work perfectly -- I also use USB3-->SATA (standard sata) adapters for connecting SSD's to computer USB 3 ports as external drives -- USB3 speed is perfectly acceptable on these devices - don't throw away older cheaper sata SSD drives --they make excellent backup / storage media and are far better than say using usb thumbsticks for external data.

You can also get adapters for the NVM type of SSD's as well.

For modern laptops with USB 3.1 / usb-c connectors - then adapters for those are also available.

    Cheers
