What is the best way/software to get the latest drivers for my PC?

Let Windows update when they need to be. If you are having issues with certain drivers such as display, printer or networking, the OEM website for your device or mfg of that device is the best place. Do not use the so called Driver Update tools. They do more harm than good.

Only update your bios if the Motherboard or OEM has issued an update.

Stay away! These programs and sites are, IMHO, toxic!

Go to your vendor's support website for the proper technical resources available for your specific computer.

This topic keeps rearing its ugly head time and again.

If you search the forum you will find threads with assessment of the comparative outcome of using some of these drive updaters, and the variable results.

Sometimes referred to as 'Snake Oil'.

If all works well, do nothing. Of course, you may of the view 'If it's working well, let's see if we can make it work better' - at the risk of breaking it of course.

There is, as I've posted a number of times, one exception when I'd use e.g. Drivermax. Example- an older PC upgraded to a non-supported version of Windows, missing driver that couldn't be found by normal means.

There is one other circumstance where finding a driver can be hard- when you need an older one. I don't know of one of these tools that helps with that.

Note that Lenovo systems have what seems to be an excellent system updater.

It's true system manufacturers/MS may not keep up to date with the latest driver for particular models- but ask what in practice you gain?

If it ain't broke, don't update your driver.. ? At least not with these tools.

The updated computer starts faster, runs cooler, and is more snappy.

Not to mention, that driver updates also fix security vulnerabilities, so it is strange, that people recommending windows updates ignore driver updates. Windows does not focus on updating drivers, it merely installs drivers in order to get the device working, like the default Realtek LAN driver is from 2015, yet people reported, that updating the driver increased their network speed and fixed problems, obviously.

- Use the OEM [computer maker] for as long as they keep updating drivers & Bios.
- After they stop making updates, dependable hardware makers such as Intel can be tried for their hardware instead & Windows update can also be used {including through Device manager, ..., Update driver}. Make a system image before updating because the computer maker might have tailored the hardware driver to fit in with everything else so a raw driver from the likes of Intel might cause problems.

So what? Perhaps they remain the most suitable drivers.

Agreed, if the driver is doing its job, then there`s no need to go and look for a new driver.

The only driver you should or might update is nvidia`s GPU driver, because nvidia likes to put out a new driver every other week

But seriously, just open Device Manager and right click the item you want to check and choose Update Driver, if Device Manager tells you you have the best driver, then don`t worry about it.
