M.2 SSD no longer being recognized

Six months or so ago I purchased an M.2 SSD and transferred windows from my old SSD to the new one. I've had no issues up until today but when I tried to boot my computer, windows randomly didn't recognize my SSD. It said reboot and select proper boot device. I've tried taking it out and putting it back in again, I've swapped from UEFI to Legacy as I've read is a possible solution online but neither worked. I can't access windows so my options are pretty limited right now.

Do you have a second m2 port to try?

Do you have any particular reason to think the drive is not dead and gone?

I don't have a second m2 port unfortunately and no other way to test it. The drive isn't old but I suppose it could have been defective. The only thing I can think of is last night when I shut it off I accidentally click restart instead of shutting it down and rather than wait for it to restart, I held down the power button. That seems like a stupid way to kill am ssd but that's all I can think of.

Quick question before I do the previous steps. Would I have issues putting an SSD with windows from an old computer into my current computer?

What if I plug in the old SSD using a USB adapter? Same results?

So I did go ahead and plug in my older windows SSD and I do see my new M2 drive (now the D drive) and all of the files on it. I have tried using a recovery CD to scan for errors and restore the startup of it but haven't had luck yet. So obviously the drive itself still works but still unable to boot from it for whatever reason.
