Windows 10 slow printing to OfficeJet 4500

Product: HP OfficeJet 4500
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-Bit)
Recently purchased laptop with a "direct from Microsoft" installation of Windows 10. I downloaded and installed the latest driver software (V8.0.0) for my OfficeJet 4500 (which still works flawlessly with other Windows 7 computers).
I am printing wirelessly, but it is very slow, even in Fast Draft mode. One pass of the print head and pause. Another pass and pause.
Hardware : Ryzen 5 3500U, 16 GB memory, 512 GB M.2 NVMe
Observations using perfmon /res while printing : plenty of free memory (>5 GB), plenty of free CPU , very short disk queue length (<0.1), no excessive network usage.
What else should I check ?

Click Start, type "Services.msc" (without the quotation marks) in the Start Search box and press Enter.
2. Double-click "Printer Spooler" in the Services list.
3. Click Stop and click OK.
4. Click Start, type "%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers" in the Start Search box and press Enter, delete all files in this folder.
5. Click Start, type "Services.msc" (without the quotation marks) in the Start Search box and press Enter.
6. Double-click "Printer Spooler" in the Services list.
7. Click on Start. In the Startup Type list, make sure that "Automatic" is selected and click OK.

The folder is empty

Since this is going over wifi..... what type of wifi network protocol is this G, N, AC? What is your ISP wifi speed vs your laptop wifi speed.

Gut feeling is telling me your wifi is the bottle neck.

Both of you missed the statement that printer works flawlessly on a much older Windows 7 machine that only has 802.11G

EDIT : Tested with the laptop "hardwired" to the router. Moderately faster, but the old Win 7 machine printing over WiFi is still MUCH faster !

Can't even find a driver of that version for your printer, I have to assume that is the correct model number.

1) Uninstall all HP Printer drivers and download Windows 10 drivers version 14.8
install those, and set it up again.

2) Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This is on the same page as your driver.
