Please post the Seagate model and/or image.

That is a very standard USB 3 cable not proprietary to Seagate. A USB 2 drive, though, would not have that type.
Oops; my apologies. I had no idea that was a "micro USB 3.0" connector.

Makes sense. USB 3.0 and later have more electrical contacts than 2.0 and before.

Would I need 2.0 A to Micro or mini B? Also would 3.0 of same be backwards compatible?
This is my model I think

If you are not sure about this then post a photo of the connection on the HDD & your defective cable. It might well be a "MiniUSB" connection which looks like a fat version of the connections that are on / used to be on mobile phones [which are/were "MicroUSB" connections].
Added later - the photos on this Amazon [UK] page show what I meant by "a fat version" - https://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-co.../dp/B006ZZ1C4M
This is what I bought to replace the cable for one of my external HDDs.
    Post a photo.

The drive in the link is USB 2.0.

I believe that the cable is USB A to USB Mini B. A Micro USB 3.0 cable would not work.

My possible confusion is between mini and micro USB. What idiot decided to make the two similar but incompatible plugs, I'd probably best never find out.

It would sure be easy if the OP would just post a close up photo of the port on the hard drive...

I have an external 8TB Seagate drive. It's probably newer than the OP's. The cable end at the drive isn't one of the standard USB types: not A,B, C, mini, or micro. I presume that it's proprietary.

I wish they wouldn't do that.
USB 3.x also has A & B ends for male and female. USB-C is a whole different critter.

No, because USB 3.x micro and mini and B ends will not work with USB 2.x devices. USB 2.x will work with USB 3.x devices.
