Be careful, the CPU needs to match the chipset CPU, MB and BIOS requirements.

The safest way is to fully identify manufacturer & model of motherboard & find its specifications:

    - open computer case
    - observe mobo for any identifiable strings & try to find them, or

    - take a snapshot of mobo without cables etc
    - use google picture search to find it, or

    - CPU-Z can identify some mobos directly - see Mainboard tab.

For some boards, bios update may be necessary to support 1333MHz FSB procs. And not all mobos have voltage regulators suitable for quadcores, see its HCL. Condition of capacitors near socket (should not be leaked) also takes into account.
I already did, these are the specs:
    MoBo:
    Chipset Intel Q35 rev A2, model 0DR845
    Southbridge 82801IO (ICH9DO) rev 02
BIOS A22 (latest for this PC, 2012)

    PSU: 280W
    RAM: 4GB

I'm trying to put a Q9550 and a GT 710 or something similar.

What do you mean? Yes, I did, I simply typed the info instead of putting a snapshot of it. What's the problem?

The safest way is to fully identify manufacturer & model of motherboard & find its specifications:
Different mobos with the same chipset may have different abilities.

Oh, I am so sorry, forgive my uselessness. The manufacturer is DELL, I don't see anything else printed on the MoBo, just DELL:
    Chipset Intel Q35 rev A2, model 0DR845
    Southbridge 82801IO (ICH9DO) rev 02
BIOS A22 (latest for this PC, 2012)

    PSU: 280W
    RAM: 4GB

Where can I find the info to check if the Q9550 will be alright? I suppose there won't be problems with a GT 710 or GT 1030, all passive cooled.

I have an Optiplex 755 Small Format Factor which has been running a Q9550 for years, with an AMD HD6450 graphics card to give HDMI output.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I want. An HDMI output with a 710, and a good enough CPU to playback videos in 1080p 60fps or even 4K. Can you play 4K videos in YouTube with that CPU?

    With a Q9300, I can't play 4K videos, they freeze every 3 seconds.

    I've no idea - my display is 1920 x 1080 so 1080p 60 FPS the best I can get.
