DVD Drive is not showing in Windows 10.

    Hello everyone
I bought my laptop -LENOVO PC Portable Ideapad 320-14ISK 14"HD- without DVD/CD-Rom drives so it is normal that the DVD Drive is not showing in Windows 10. But even if the placement of the DVD is empty, you can still see inside my laptop the port with is dedicated (I think is SATA) for the DVD drive. So I tried to install A solid-state drive (SSD) in the same placement but the SSD was not detected by my laptop, and when I tried to put a DVD/CD Optical Drive (from another laptop), it was not detected also but the green light on the DVD/CD optical drive was on and I could open and close the DVD Optical Drive.
When I opened the Bios, I couldn’t see the DVD optical drive. And when I opened device manger, there is no an icon (pictogram) for : DVD/CD-ROM drives and for IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
So I opened Computer management, then I got in Device manager (still nothing) then I select Action then Add Hardwar wizard: and here I sow the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers but the computer asked me for CD for the installation.
Could you please tell me what to do please?

Hi, you might check if you have Lenovo System Update on your PC
    Lenovo System Update for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit), 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit), 8 (32-bit, 64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Desktop, Notebook, Workstation - US

If not, download and run it so as to bring drivers up to date as a first step.

If it's not seen in the BIOS it's not a windows problem. It's either the port is disabled in the BIOS or its faulty maybe that's why it was not used

Some of the later BIOSes may show a list of bootable devices that are plugged in at the time of booting and may include all USB devices in the same category such as USB Floppy drive, CD drive and others.

CD / DVD is dead. It is useless nowadays.
If you don't have a SSD drive you can buy a small SSD (120G- US$25) to have Windows and programs and install the HDD on a caddy (US$5) to install in the ODD bay.
It will boot in 30 sec. You will have the speed of a SSD and the space of a HDD at low cost (US$~30).
How does a combined 256GB SSD and 1TB SATA HDD work together?

That's too broad a statement, just because some things no longer come on disc does not make them useless.

I agree. I should have said almost useless.
New computer (almost all laptops) don't even come with CD / DVD drives any more.

Nice that those users can still get USB ODDs, USB ZIP drives and USB 3.5" floppy drives for their needs.

I finally managed to detect my DVD/CD drive and my SSD by installing the item when my laptop was off, then tuning on my laptop, going to the bios and here you are, the drive was seen by my laptop.
    And everything works properly new.
