Installing device driver as a package for the very first time

How are we installing device driver as a package for the very first time, so is not listed in device manager, and only has .inf .cat, .sys and .dll file type in it ?

I think that there are multiple ways.

One is to go into the Device Manager control panel. Click on the Action tab. Pull down Add Legacy Hardware. That takes you into the Add Hardware wizard. Click Next. Choose "install hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)". Click next. Show all devices. Click next. Select "have disk". Browse to the directory that contains the .inf files.

Or, sometimes you can just right click on the correct .inf file, and select "install".

Suppose you have just installed Win 10.
Open Device Manager and look for devices that has a yellow alert of missing driver. Right click on one of them, select update driver, select browse on the compute. Select the folder (and subfolders) where are the sub folders with the *.ini,*.sys and *.cat files.

You should also be able to just right click on the INF and select "Install".
