How to enable fingerprint in HP Elitebook folio 9470m

    Hello all,

I'm using Windows 10 x64 on an HP Elitebook folio 9470m and want to enable its finger print for signing in.

In settings -> Accounts -> sign in Optios -> Windows ?Hello fingerprint, there is this message: We could not find a fingerprint scanner compatible with windows hello fingerprint

How to enable it for that laptop please?

    Hi tomyfr

If you right click on Start and then left click on Device Manager see if you have a heading for Biometric Devices? (Right near top)

If not you will likely find at least one device in an error status.

Head to HP's site and download and install the device driver for the fingerprint reader. Keep this file you may need it again after a feature update or re-install.

Once driver is installed restart computer. Once restarted confirm Biometric device is listed in device manager. If it there you can go back to sign in options.

Actually I just did this same procedure on my HP Probook 4440 when I clean installed 1903 this past Friday.

Device was in error status, loaded driver, done.

Thank you both. The video helped me and the issue is solved now.
On the device manager there is only one exclamation mark remaining that I like to solve its problem as well. It's next to HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor under the System Devices category.

How to work this out to have a clean device manager window please? :)

    That is a toughy.

That is HP 3D Data Guard.

The driver is on their site.

On Friday when I loaded it the exclamation mark went away but Windows 10 kept complaining that the application was not compliant. I think you need app and driver to be covered. Someone who has dug deeper can comment.

I uninstalled the app as the notification was just annoying, the laptop I have rarely travels so not likely to be dropped.

If your box is newer maybe the driver / app for your device will work better than mine. I would be interested so please post back after you install.

HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor is a sensor that parks the HDD head when the laptop is falling. It's useless if you have a SSD.
You will find the driver searching the web with the hardware ID.
Right click on the missing driver, select properties - Device ID on details tab.
Put the mouse over the fist line, right click - Copy
Paste it to search on the web.
