Win10 does not believe my Brother MFC-J4620DW's abilities

Win7 knew that my Brother MFC could print two-sided, but Win10 does not believe it, even after removing the driver and replacing it with a new Win10 driver from the manufacturer.

There's a lot of settings one has to make to get all the features of a multi-function device, some in Windows and more in the program wanting to use the printer. When clicking File, Print there should be Options, usually to the right of the printer choice box, where 2-sided can be chosen but it all depends upon the support software of the printer. In other words, the driver alone may not provide all the services needed, the software tells Windows and programs what they need to know. I probably install new printers for clients 3 or 4 times a month and find the complete software is key to getting the features to work, did one just on Friday with a Canon Pixma on a new Notebook.

Some devices require the MFG. software to run properly.

I have an MFC-L2740DW. At the default screen for printing to it, I have to scroll down to see some text "more settings". If I click on that, I get a new window which includes the double-sided printing settings.

I wonder whether you're just not finding the right settings.

There are no choices under 'more settings'

"Options" does not include an option for two-sided printing.

    MFG Software?
Manufacturer, same as OEM/Original Equipment Manufacturer.

According to this description on Amazon the machine has Duplex Printing so the issue would most likely be with the software and Brother should be involved in the solution:
    Brother MFC-L2740DW Laser Multifunction Printer - Monochrome - Plain Paper Print - Desktop - Copier/Fax/Printer/Scanner - 32 ppm Mono Print - 2400 x 600 dpi Print - 32 cpm Mono Copy - Touchscreen LCD - 600 dpi Optical Scan - Automatic Duplex Print - 250 sheets Input - Fast Ethernet - Wireless LAN - USB - MFC-L2740DW

    (snip)
    Too bad.

All that I can think of is installing the full software package for the printer. Downloads | MFC-J4620DW | United States | Brother

    Good luck.
