As mentioned by another poster, if you go to "Camera Privacy", you can scroll down and disable the camera for individual applications.

I don't see the option to disable it for desktop applications, only for microsoft store applicatrions. I did found that chrome/games do not show in the desktop applications using it, but instead it is WavesSysSvc that is using the camera and activating it while I am watching a video/gaming. I still can't disable it from using the camera though.

Hi, my laptop camera has been turning itself on weirdly. I have seen it happen when I am watching a video or when I turn on a game. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi, I have the same laptop and had the same issue with the camera turning itself on. I guess I have found the app which is using the camera which is WAVES MaxxAudio

Turn off WAVES MaxxAudio and restart your laptop to fix this

I like the low-tech feature of a postage stamp, band-aid or similar covering over the lens, foils those hackers that can turn it on remotely.

    camera turning itself on

I see this is an older thread, I just bought a new laptop and was experiencing this. I went to camera privacy settings as mentioned earlier and turned off "Desktop App Viewer" and it stopped the on/off cycle
I also did the "low tech" and put a piece of electrical tap over it so would be easy to remove when needed.

As SirQ commented, this is an old thread but I had the same problem and think I found the root of the case.

WavesSysSvc Service Application was the programme activating my camera which I could see under Camera Privacy Settings. This is connected to the MaxxAudio programme.
If you open the MaxxAudioPro application and go to the Waves nx page, it has a camera tracking function to track your head and adjust the sound to it. You can turn off the camera tracking in the app.

The text in the imagine is in Norwegian, but I circled the button in red.
