Access denied when opening USB memory on my computer

    Hi!

What may be the reason I can't open an USB on my computer but my friend can with his computer? I get "Access denied" on the D-drive, and I right clicked to check ownership of it but couldn't change it there. It looks like I should have access to it but have no idea. Both computers uses windows and it is NTFS. I have tried formatting it but didn't help

I recently bought this one which is: Kingston DataTraveler G3 32GB (USB 3.0)

    Appreciate all help!

Can you open other USB drives OK? Try reformatting the drive unless you have critical data on it.

Yeah I can open other USB drives on my computer. My friend who can open this drive reformatted it and then we tried to open it on my computer, but I still got access denied. This USB drive worked one week ago on my computer so this is really weird.

Open Device manager with the USB disk attached. Is there any yellow alerts of missing drivers?

What should I look for in the device manager? I can't see any yellow alerts when I have it open and then plug in the USB drive.

Btw now I tried to use other USB drives, and I get access denied on those as well.

plug in the USB disk and then open Device manager.
With the snipping toll take a snapshot of hole window, save to tour disk and post it here as an attachment.
On the Quick reply window, Go Advanced (below, right), hit the paper clip (top menu) - Add files (top right) - browse to the image file - upload

Alright here is the screenshot. The language is Swedish though, couldn't find where to change but can probably change in computer settings if you want. The USB drive is the Kingston DataTraveler 3.0 USB device.

I tried to right click on it, then settings and the status says "This device works correctly". Then I went to drivers the settings and tried to update the drivers but there were no new drivers. From the settings there, it is possible to choose "Inactive device", "Uninstall device". I can also see events but there are only two events, "Device has started (disc)" and "Device has been configured (disc.inf)". These might be from the first time I attached the drive to my computer.

I also attached a file of the name of the drivers in the settings of the device in device manager.

Maybe I can try to choose "Uninstall device" which maybe will restart and reconfigure it on my computer?

As you have a Win 10 Pro, It can be that group policies is denying access to it.
Open gpedit.msc and look for USB restrictions.

But I could open this USB-drive some weeks ago and I have not changed any settings at all. So that would be weird.

It doesn't seem like there is any USB restrictions after looking around in gpedit.msc

Can you please post a Disk Manager image with the USB disk attached? Please expand the columns so we can read them.
