New USB media hub showing as removeable in Windows 10, cannot change
SYSTEM DETAILS:
Mobo: GIGABYTE 970A-DS3P (rev 2.0 I think)
RAM: 32GB DDR3 @ 1600Mhz
OS: Windows 10 Pro (x64)
GFX: NVIDIA GTX 1060 (6GB)
DRIVES: 250GB Samsung 840 Evo, 1TB, 2TB Seagate Barracuda "Compute" both new and a 3TB Seagate Barracuda (recycled drives from upgrading one of my NAS servers)
So I recently purchased a new media hub that has many drive ports and 2 USB3 ports that I have tied directly in to an extra USB3 socket on the same card as the one attached to my board is taken by the USB3 ports built in to the chassis of my PC. This hub has data card slots for SD cards, TF/microSD cards and M2 cards. I am getting in to photography and was tird of constantly using USB convertors for my SD cards and microSD cards, besides, the direct link between the cards and the board has drastically improved data transfre speeds by as much as 4 times! I purchased this device as it also has a read out on its little LCD display for the CPU temperature, but was not so sure that installing it between the CPU and heatsync was a good idea as I could potentially destroy the sensor in it. so I use it instead to show me the temperature of the inside of the chassis, and surprisingly it is reasonably accurate to within 1 or 2°C.
My issue is that the media hub's drive letter "H" is for some reason detected as a "portable device" when it should be similar to the boards USB ports and not "removable". I have done a lot of research in to this including the device ID's and the other more technical info buried in device manager. I was unable to get the system to detect this hub as an internal device that is permaneantly attached to the system. Does anyone know of a way to do this? Here is a screenshot that mauy help you decide what I could do to achive what I am trying to do.
