Scan to computer is currently unavailable issue:

Hi. I recently installed a new HP Envy Photo 6200 Series Printer (All in One). I set it up for wireless on the 5 GHz band. Everything worked perfectly except at some point I noticed a Scanner icon with a red x in the notification area indicating that Scan to Computer is currently unavailable. When this happens I can still scan from my pc with the Scanner software. I just can't scan from the printer itself to the computer. If the error icon is clicked it opens the Print and Scan Doctor. Within that program I click check for scanning issues and it says it found an error or errors and fixed them. It didn't fix the problem even though it said it found error(s) and fixed them. When Scan to Computer is working properly, the Task Manager shows a ScanToPCActivationApp which is loaded from the Startup list. It disappears from the Task Manager when the error happens. If I click on the ScanToPCActivationApp in Program Files it will show up again in the Task Manager but the problem still remains. The only way I've found to get it running again is to restart the pc. I've researched the issue and tried the things that were suggested such as uninstall and reinstall printer software and drivers and changed the printer port all without success. The option to stop getting the error icon is to disable the ScanToPCActivationApp from Startup which means you can't scan from printer to pc. I think this may actually be a Windows 10 issue as the Wireless connection on the printer is solid and has never disconnected. I know that many people have had this issue. Sorry if this post is long, just trying to explain as best I can. Last thing is that the error seems to happen after the computer has been asleep for several hours. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

To Compumind: My original post somehow had a spam message at the end of the post and it looks like it was removed from the message board so I resubmitted it. The message I got from you didn't tell me anything. This is what I got from you: If I helped you and/or resolved your issue, please click the "thumbs-up" icon in the lower left hand corner of my post that helped you the most.
It will build my reputation in the forum community and would be most welcome. You can even leave a brief comment, like "great job" or similar.

    Many thanks!

Forgive the obvious- as it's new, why not contact HP support?

    For anyone reading:
    User guides, drivers:
    https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product...073045/manuals

Wireless light: Indicates the status of the printer wireless connection.Solid blue light indicates that wireless connection has been established and you can print.Slow blinking light indicates that wireless is on, but the printer is not connected to a network.Make sure your printer is within the range of wireless signal.Fast blinking light indicates wireless error. Refer to the message on the printer display. No light indicates that wireless is off.

Presumably this looks good, does it?

I did contact HP Support. They tried different things but the problem remains. Thanks for your input.

Do you have any security software or other programs that could be interfering?
Try a clean boot, then try your printer..

    Post crash/failure try running
Resplendence Software - WhoCrashed, automatic crash dump analyzer

Have a look at your Reliability History.

I fiddled with this problem for quite some time. As I was also having problems with the lag in printing from the Windows 10 computer to my HP ENVY 5530 printer wirelessly, I wound up connecting the two with an ethernet cable. Much faster and less complications. Fortunately, the printer and tower were just a couple of feet away from each other.

I use Windows Defender and SuperAntiSpyware pro. I don't think the're causing the issue. I may try a clean boot.

have tried it with a usb connection from printer to computer and still had the issue. Other than this annoyance everything else with the printer/ scanner works perfectly and very fast.

I have tried every possible thing that was suggested and even did a chat with HP Support (which turned out to be useless). I've decided to simply Disable the ScanToComputer app from Startup. I can still scan using the scanning software on the computer. Just won't be able to scan from the printer to the computer. Really not a big issue. I was just hoping to find a solution that worked but was obviously unsuccessful. I don't think this issue will be resolved. Thanks to everyone who has replied.

The drivers have been reinstalled and everything is up to date. I think I have tried everything without success. As I mentioned, there is no problem scanning from the computer with the HP Envy scanner software. The only thing I found that gives a temporary fix is a restart. I finally just disabled the ScanToComputer startup. Not being able to scan from the printer to the computer is really not a big deal and is something that I usually don't do anyhow. Being somewhat of a perfectionist I was just hoping to be able to resolve the issue. Thanks, dalchina.

The only thing I found to prevent the Scan to PC is Currently Unavailable error from happening is to set the computer to Never Sleep. The problem almost always happens in the morning when waking from 3 to 4 hours of sleep. I don't want the computer to never sleep so I set it back to the default of 20 minutes. I then disabled the ScanToPCActivationApp from startup. I can still scan without any issues from my computer using the HP Scanning software. Thanks to all of you for trying to help.
