I see now that placing the FX9370 in that mobo was a VERY bad idea. But it was a trooper, all of 5 months slightly overclocked it ran smooth until the big bang.

I replaced the mobo yesterday with a GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P and tried using the FX8350 but no boot. Not even into bios. The lights and fans are on but nobody is home. I'm safe to assume when I swapped over CPU's while using the damaged MSI board I fried THAT cpu as well.

This situation is not long term, when tax time rolls through again I do plan on a top end motherboard and CPU along with DDR4 ram.

Maybe I'll hand this build off to my step son.
Yikes. I hope that the new motherboard is OK.

Looks like a replacement FX8350 would be around $150 (Amazon). You could save a few dollars by using an 8320 instead.

I bought a new 8350 off ebay for $105 with usps priority shipping. My fingers will be crossed the whole time it's shipping.
