Need USB Drive help -- wrong forum?
A search for USB does not turn up any findings. Perhaps I need a different forum.
My problem involves the drive letter changes.
My entire Dreamweaver (not cloud) website is on a USB drive. At this time, between my desktop and my laptop, using the same USB, it appears as F: on one, E: on the other; and G: in Windows Explorer.
Although I can work on the site in whichever letter appears, I cannot upload to the remote server.
I'm very nervous about doing anything that might cause the website to totally disappear and/or have none of the letters work. Searches turn up various warnings about changing the letters.
Can anyone advise or point me toward a different source of help? Many thanks.

you can change the drive letter in disk management just right click on the the drive and
choose from the drop down menu "change drive letter and path"

You would be best to assign a Drive letter out side of the drive letters already Assigned by Host OS
Like U or V to avoid any conflict that may arise
And you may (will) have to assign the drive letter for the USB on all PC's
The PC will remember the GUID of the USB and assign the drive letter you have set -
So each time you insert that USB it will always be the same drive letter on that PC

Thank you for your responses.
I become anxious when more than one application is involved, in this case, Windows, Dreamweaver, and the USB drive. I don't know which of the three needs to be accommodated and what might get me in trouble.
1. The Website USB has always said G:// but today, it says E:// in the same ?port?
2. In Dreamweaver the site location is G://.
The problem: do I change the site location (G:) in Dreamweaver to accommodate the new USB drive letter (E:),
or do I leave the Dreamweaver G: as it is and change the USB drive letter from E to G ....
I'll try to follow your suggestions in the morning.

you can do both - either configure the USB to G via Disk management
or change the server location in dreamweaver to E
IT would be BEST to Assign a Higher Drive Letter then what would be Normally be use by PC...
So BEST to configure USB and Dreamwaever to use Drive Letter L,M.N.O,P
thus give PC enough space to auto assign other USB ports without bumping out Yours..
Notice Drive Y & Q - my PC has 12 USB ports - I have those drives assigned to drive letters higher then what the PC would auto assign to the USB if I had used all 12 ports... Thus avoiding any Conflict - which you have..
