Bitlocker waking up non-encrypted HDD drives every hour

So I'm running Bitlocker encrypted and non-encrypted HDD disks and have set up disk to sleep after 5 minutes.

However, every hour Bitlocker wakes up the disks that are _not_encrypted, apparently to check if they can be encrypted, or something similar. Disks that have all partitions encrypted are not affected and remain sleep.

This is extremely annoying and I haven't figured out how to disable this behavior. Please help me to disable this nonsense.

    Using Process Monitor exposes "FveIsVolumeEncryptable":

Thanks, but my problem is not related to sleeping whole system, only (specific) disks.

Known issue. Workaround is to use Hibernate not sleep. https://social.technet.microsoft.com...om-sleep-issue

This is a quote from one of the posts.

"As far as I know, a sleeping drive is not without power - its controller board is still powered, and will remain in an unlocked state unless explicitly told to lock (and it is this explicit locking I'm guessing that Microsoft started doing with the 1607 build - but on the other hand, if they did then they should have discovered the bug as well, so maybe it is really a TPM related issue as strophy says).

A lot more information (and other similar attack vectors) can be found in this extremely interesting paper (pdf file):

    https://www.blackhat.com/docs/eu-15/...onments-wp.pdf

The authors recommend not using sleep mode for now, until operating systems, OEM computer manufacturers or drive manufacturers implement protections against it (e.g. by using explicit locking, data cable unplugging detection etc). Some already have protections in place, it seems, but apparently most don't."

@bro67 please read my original post more carefully before pasting random links

The problem is that Bitlocker is waking up NON ENCRYPTED _DISKS_ every hour but I want those disk remain sleep instead.

    Computer stays on whole time.

Again it is a known issue. See my last post. You can also look at those wakeup events with Powercfg or https://gallery.technet.microsoft.co...-woke-a1408069
