I have some MP3 files which I am trying to burn to a blank c.d. with Ashampoo Burning Studio 16.
The program accepts the files in the list to be burnt, but says there is no c.d. in the drive when I try to burn.
I have burnt other discs before but without using Burning Studio.
One possibility is the blank CD itself. Try another blank CD, if you haven't already.
You could also burn the CD with Windows 10.
File Explorer has that function. In the top menu, click on "Share." You should see a "Burn to Disc" option.
When I click on Burn, it says "Connect a burner and restart the player."
What does that mean?
I'm not sure, but it sounds like the OS (Windows 10) isn't recognizing your CD burner.
If you select "This PC" in File Explorer, do you see the CD drive listed?
Take "burner" out of the equation and check if the drive recognizes other discs you've burned or commercial discs, will help to determine if the drive is working properly or has gone bad. Try a commercially-recorded DVD, most ODD/Optical Disc Drives recognize both CD and DVD, even DVD/DL.

The drive is working well. It plays commercial discs which have bought, both cd and dvd. It plays discs which I have recorded myself, both cd and dvd.
The files on the last c.d. I burnt are cda. I copied and converted those to MP3.
I can't remember what procedure I used to burn the cda, or or that matter how I burnt the other discs either.
I think you'll find the .cda files are quite small, they are only pointers to the hidden music on the CD. I find it best to start a music CD in Windows Media Player [or maybe a different player] and RIP the music to the computer's drive, usually to the Music Folder but that can be changed.
