Internal HD seagate suddenly stopped showing up

    Hello,

My internal HD seagate 500GB suddenly stopped dhowing up on my computer along with my external HD 1TB. I was able to fix my external HD by allocating drive letter from disk management. But internal still no luck.

So the internal drive sometimes shows up in disk management as

    Disk 1
    Unknown

    Not initialized

When I right-click to initialize gives me error virtual disk manager the system cannot find the file specified

Shows up in disk part cmd as,

Online 0mb size 0 free space

Does not show up in tools minitool partition, easeus data recovery.

Most of the time suddenly disappears from disk management as well. and rescan does not bring it back.

Please help how to recover it if possible with data in it.

Welcome to the forum. First remove cable from both ends and re attach does it show in the BIOS it may be worth swapping the data cable in case it's gone bad. If it doesn't show in the BIOS it's dead

Samuria posted while I was typing (so I didn't see their post). Please follow their suggestions first.

This may be a hardware problem - I strongly suggest stopping doing anything except for trying to recover the data (in case it dies on you).

Easiest thing to do is to take the HDD to another system and try to copy data off of it from there.
Also, after that attempt, try running Seagate Seatools on that HDD (free from here): How to use SeaTools for Windows | Seagate Support US

Also test the external drive (in case it is failing). Dying/broken hard drives can make the system do wonky things that seem unrelated to the hard drive (such as making another hard drive seem bad).

    Good luck!
