    Safe to remove hardware?

I often use pen drives for certain purposes, and after ejecting the drive using the "safely remove hardware" icon on the task bar, I used to get an all clear message pop up on the lower right screen telling me it was safe to remove the pen drive! This message no longer appears? It does appear on both my laptops but not on my desktop.
It may seem like a small thing to some, but I have had a pen drive corrupt on me because I forgot to remove it properly, so I would like the message back!
Does anyone know where the setting for this feature resides? I can find nothing in the "notifications" settings?

    Thanks in advance!

At this link, scroll down a bit more than 1/2 way to W-Anderson's post (to see if your settings are correct for removing USB devices): https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...8-d55fb548a14b
(I tried to copy/paste, but the images weren't cooperating for me

Sorry, but you misunderstood my first post: I have not lost the icon, I know where it is, but when you select a device to remove from that icons list, a message should pop up on the bottom right of your screen telling you the device is safe to remove ..... It is the message that is missing, it doesn't appear anymore, and I would like it back!

Other notifications work? Check, if you have Focus assist to off
    Right click on notification area..

Other notifications work, but not the one mentioned? Focus Assist makes no difference whether on or off?

    Hi,
Yep ms screwed it up likely fixing os installing with usb for 1903

If you notice the usb disappearing from windows explorer than it's okay to remove.

10 isn't releasing usb's very fast either I get lots of close program/ explorer error messages trying to eject.

Ran 1903 in a VM with all the latest updates it can get and apparently have the same issue.

Just do what TrashZone says until microsoft issues a fix :)

    Hi Willabong -

Is the icon back and functioning now?

If not, you can use SFC and DISM and see if it comes back and functions properly.

    Here is another possibility -

Safely remove hardware icon disappeared in Windows 10 [QUICK GUIDE]

Post back and let us know how things are.

    Thanks.

The Safe to Remove icon no longer shows unless you change those properties to not allow quick removal. zit is a change that MS made because of the changes to how data is wrote to USB devices, since so many people are npw using USB connected platter and SSD drives, along with mobile devices.
