Storage Spaces in W10 Pro - does anyone really use it?

    Quick question -

Even though it is not new, Storage Spaces seems to be a Software RAID.

Create Storage Space for Storage Pool in Windows 10

Create a New Pool and Storage Space in Windows 10

Does anyone actually really use it?
How much is the performance hit?

    And try the above Poll...

    TIA

There are a few threads on this related to issues using it.. the relative lack of comment suggests usage is low.

    Hi folks

I've tried it a couple of times --usually I end up losing data (not actually as I always have other backups !!!!)

The storage spaces seem to have so many problems and break easily -- I wouldn't recommend using them. If you need any sort of Software RAID usin a Linux NAS !!!.

Windows does have a weakness in its file system IMO -- apart from not allowing long file names it doesn't have a decent method of "aggregating HDD's" -- there's no reason why a group of HDD's with different storage capacities shouldn't be allowed to act as a "composite storage pool".

    Cheers

I didn't think that the implementation was well thought out.
Sounds familiar! Just have MS throw in "features."

    Thanks, all.
