    Partitions and Boot menu


    What I would like to know does the bios create the boot menu and partitions or is it the operating system or a bit of both

    Partitions are created by operating system.
    Boot menu created and display by operating system.

    BIOS is the fist software the computer loads. It's mainly a hardware configuration interface.
    Everything on the disks (partitions, format etc) are created by the OS.
