How to show more details of driver versions/dates in device manager?

I recall that there used to be an option/switch/3rd party add-on that you could use to get Device Manager to show more details of driver versions in device manager when updating drivers and you had chosen to select from drivers already installed/available.

This used to show driver manufacturer, version numbers and their dates therefore making it a lot easier and more accurate when you're looking to install a specific version or manufacturer of a driver.

I have no doubt that many of you know what I'm talking about so if you could tell me (remind me) who we used to get more details shown then please refresh my brain.

    Thanks all.

Well, I dont know who I did it but that extra detail of the drivers in Device Manager are back!!

This happened sometime during when I uninstalled a lot of drivers then spent the whole day reinstalling drivers trying to get everything to work again!!!

doesn't use the drive manager but should give you what you want.

Thanks thomaseg1 for replying so promptly.

While this does look good for determining driver details the option/switch/3rd party add-on I'm looking for has to be for Device Manager so that you can select and choose a specific driver when updating drivers.

Another program you might want to consider is DriverView:
