    USB memory stick issues

I have a very strange problem with a Lexar 128GB USB.
When I plug it into my PC (windows 10 pro) it shows up in File Explorer and I can copy files from it but I cannot write to it.
The USB stick works perfectly in my laptop, ie read/write with no problem
The USB port in my PC is fine because I can use it to read/write to any other USB
In my PC when I run the Disc Management app the USB appears and is listed as working properly
In Device Manager the USB is listed as ‘working properly’ and when I search for new drivers Windows reports that I have the most current driver.
With the PC if I attempt to format it after a long time a dialog display appears that says that Windows is unable to format it. In my laptop I can format it with no issues.
Can somebody tell me what is going on.
    Thanks in advance

Sometimes on inserting a usb for the first time it isn't correctly identified and an incorrect driver is loaded. No amount of searching for new drivers can correct that. Rather than updating the driver, try uninstalling it in Device Manager. Then put the usb back in and see if it works correctly.

Thanks Bree but no change. If I describe what happens it might help. After uninstalling the USB from the PC, I removed it, rebooted, and it reinstalled and automatically it showed up as existing as it did before. I tried to copy a photo to it, only a 3 Mb file. Instantly the file transfer bar showed 49% complete then froze. If I look at 'more details' it says that it is calculating the time remaining with no time shown, and actually nothing has been transferred based on the size of the file and what remains to be transferred. I put the USB into my laptop and transferred a file of a similar size in seconds. I then put the USB back into the PC, and with no problem I transferred the file from the USB to the PC. It is bizarre, I can read but not write with the PC, but I can read and write with the laptop.

On device manager, is there any yellow alerts of missing drivers?
Is your Win 10 ver 1903? 1903 used to have USB issues.

to MegaHz: I am using version 1803

to bro67: I am listed as a Junior Member for a reason. Thanks, but I don't want to mess with my registry to get a nasty USB working.

the USB worked with no problems in the past in any Windows 10 machine that I own, and it continues to work with the laptop with Windows Home Version 1809 but not with the PC.
I have no idea what is happening, but it is certain that i blame Windows and their goofy updates. The same thing has happened with 2 Western Digital external hard drives. If you cannot make archival backups to protect your data then what use is Windows?
i'll use the USB to backup data on my laptop and find another way to backup the PC.

    thanks guys

Until you go through the troubleshooting steps in the links, nothing can be resolved.
