I have a Micro SD card 64GB that was unreadable. I had given up hope for it, so I inserted it into an adapter and got the same error message, RC on the drive, selected Format, named it and now I have my 64gb card back.

Two of them show the same size and one shows a zero size.

I will try an adapter (I have several never used). I hope this might be a case of 'if the expected does not work try the unexpected'.

I tried the adapter in two machines, it still would not format. I have instead tried the card from my Windows Lumia phone, which the Android phone is replacing. All unwanted Windows files were removed easily and it seems to work OK with Android. I am still able to use the basic functions on the Lumia, which I hoped to keep as a backup. I prefer not to dump things if a use can be found for them. eg. my XP laptop is now a server for my printer, connected by cable not wifi of course.
