Windows needs RAID (software) file systems

Hi folks
I'm on a Linux system copying approx 90 GB Windows 10 Virtual machine to a RAID 0 HDD (not SSD) array --software RAID using mdadm.

Average speed is around 340 Mib/s -- total time around 3.5 mins

Can't get anything like those sorts of speeds on identical hardware using same HDD's on Windows with standard Windows file systems.







C'mon Ms give us some sort of modern fast file systems with decent software RAID options -- NTFS is a joke for copying large amounts of data !!!

Those sorts of "Storage spaces" breaks easily and often doesn't even survive a Windows update --I know quite a few who used Storage spaces in Windows 8/8.1 suddenly found their data was unreadable after an upgrade to W10.

Storage spaces are inherently highly unreliable.

For clarity: RAID 0 is not true "Redundant Array..." etc due to lack of redundancy.

Speed of RAID 0 depends on number of physical HDDs.
This speed is close to RAID 0 over 3x HDD - it seems to be too fast for 2x HDD, too slow for 4x HDD.

Mistakenly mixed terms - windows filesystems (except ReFS in some aspects) are independent on logical volume structure. Furthermore, SoftRAID technology used not specified.

NTFS has nothing to do with underlying volume structure.

Actually, not true for those who know what they are doing.

Data storage in my 10 years old system: pure RAID 1+0 (4x 2TB physical disks) using software Windows technologies.
1st Tier: 2x Storage Spaces Pools & Two-way Mirrors, each includes two disks
2nd Tier: Striped Volume over two "physical disks" (from 1st Tier), formatted as NTFS.
Yes, this configuration is unsupported but fully functional & reliable.

Read/write speed approx. 250 MB/s (125 MB/s per physical disk) is quite adequate for old 5900 rpm disks.
