Change region of laptop dvd player

The dvd player of my laptop works fine for dvds in U.S, but I understand you can change the format of this player for a European - zone 2 format. How do you change to that format?

Open Device Manager found by right clicking on the Start Icon. Locate your DVD/CD-ROM drive in Device Manager and then right click on the drive and select Properties. There will be a tab for DVD Region. You can only change this 5 times before its locked in.

As stated, if you change to Region 2, you will not be able to play any Region 1 USA movies. After you watch your region 2 movies and change it back to Region 1 you will only have 3 more changes before it locks on the last one. You can purchase a Region Free DVD player I believe.
