    flash drive situation

I bought a new Sandisk Cruzer 64 gb flash drive. But the little light on it does not work (in any USB port on any computer). When I google this, all the articles talk about a failed flash drive. But the drive works perfectly. All my computers recognize the drive and files move smoothly between these devices. Any ideas how to get the little flash drive light working?

Replace the LED. Or it's possible the LED is good, but the solder connection is bad.

    Not really in my skillset.
It really isn't a problem, as the drive seems to function perfectly, except for the light.

Some just don't have a light on the same model drive. I have a number of same model Sandisk 32 GB flash drives where that is the case. One of mine also has a write speed 3x that of the others. I test them all for fakes even though they are from reputable suppliers.
They function which is what matters, just the internals probably vary in detail.

99% of Google results are rubbish.

I would have thought not having an LED would be a cause of considerable complaints for a manufacturer unless it was clearly stated that the product did not have such a feature.

As to the problem, I would say just contact Sandisk and ask.

I have several and they do not have LEDs.

Interesting. I've just looked at reviews on Amazon for this series and found at least three that do mention that it has LED's although one says it is that dim......

Also the on board activity LED is dimmer than a terminally ill firefly.
Excellent performance; fair quality; the light blinks to denote it is working; I even bought 2.
Haven't found any saying 'no LED's'

I looked more carefully and there is no LED. I thought the slider also functioned as an LED. But this is what screwed me up, on Amazon:

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Question: Does this have an LED that shows when it's being used?
Answer: Yes, it has a light blue pulsing light that brightens when a file is accessed.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Clearly the reviews and questions/answers covered a plethora of Sandisk models.

    Just a thought

If you kept the receipt than you can exchange it or try contacting scan disk for an RMA (warranty return)
