Hosted Network Supported is No, and I need it to be Yes

    Hello,

I moved to Germany and have been using a VPN network to get American TV shows, and then creating a mobile hotspot on my laptop to connect to a Google Chromecast dongle. I left Germany for a few months, and when I came back all of the sudden I was unable to connect to the mobile hotspot network. I have tried everything I can, and I'm out of ideas. I have searched online for this issue, and I have made sure all of my drivers are updated, I have rolled back updates (someone said this fixed the problem) I have uninstalled drivers and let them reinstall, but nothing seems to work. Typically when I would turn on the mobile hotspot, the wifi logo in my taskbar would change to the icon for a LAN connection, but it doesn't do that anymore. The network gets created, but when I connect devices to it it says "Connected, no Internet"

    I would love any suggestions!!!

    Thank you so much,

    Phil

    Hi there

    could be something simple

Roaming plans, data allowance exceeded / changed, phone changed, Mobile provider changed, local laws regarding VPN's changed --that one usually unlikely though etc etc. When moving between EU (and EEA) countries and non EU/EEA services can sometimes change and you might need to revist your contract / sim card.

On another matter it's always better if you can afford the phone in advance to never sign up for a monthly contract - just get a sim only deal -these can over a couple of years save you A LOT OF MONEY - especially those that have part of the price of the phone as in the contract price - so when you've paid for the phone you are just stuffing a load of dosh into the phone providers pockets. I think in EU (and EEA) a law is either in place or about to be implemented that once the phone is paid for the contract price must be reduced - but these companies have other ways of "increasing charges and tariff's" so I doubt whether that will ever get implemented.

    Cheers

    Hi Jimbo,

There isn't a phone in the equation, just my laptop and the tv. I used this process for 1 year flawlessly with the exact same equipment, so something changed on my computer settings. (Hosted Network Supported now says no and I need to change it) so once I'm able to make that change, it should work. I'm not sure what happened to change that setting.
